What is Left is an ongoing series of mixed media paintings and drawings documenting abandoned chairs as inanimate portraits. These cumbersome objects hold a functional role within our domestic spaces, yet once no longer useful or desired, furniture often gets discarded in a myriad of visible ways. Reimagining abandoned chairs as works of art provides a unique, human connection, envisioning the individual lives that each once held. The work serves as both a portrait of absence, and a tangible reminder of what gets left behind after we’re gone.
